It’s a Great Time to Book Your “Summer” Vacation

Did that summer escape somehow escape you this year? It’s not too late to get away. In fact, it might be the perfect time. Most of America’s most popular vacation destinations are still open for business and, best of all, available at the most affordable prices of the year. So, the team at WallyPark has done a little homework to find the best times to book your visit.

A lush green mountain range rises beside a sandy beach and clear blue ocean under a partly cloudy sky—one of the stunning cheap fall travel destinations with waves gently rolling into the shore.
Hawaii

Things are almost always beautiful in Hawaii, but autumn is generally considered the cheapest time to visit. September and October offer a good balance of pleasant weather and lower prices compared to the peak seasons, but some travelers think of late August and the week after Labor Day as the real “sweet spot.” The week right after Thanksgiving is often cited as a potentially cheap time to visit, particularly if you can travel right after the holiday. From surfing and golfing to exploring and touring, there’s something wonderful to do in Hawaii whenever you decide to go.

Orlando

Looking for a fabulous family vacation you can actually afford? The cheapest time to visit Orlando is during the unusually broad shoulder season between late August and early November. The summer crowds have dissipated, and the holiday rush has yet to begin, so you’re likely to enjoy lower pricing on everything from flights and hotels to theme park tickets and rental vehicles. It might surprise you to learn that Orlando also experiences a lull in tourism right after the holidays, so if your schedule allows it, you can enjoy warm weather and a hot deal.

New York City

As you might expect, the winter months of January-February are typically the cheapest time to visit New York City – but late August and early September are also considerably more affordable than the peak summer and holiday seasons. You’ll not only enjoy good weather and autumn colors, but fewer crowds in the parks, stores and theaters. While spending “the holidays” in New York can be expensive, some flights and accommodations in the first two weeks of December can be more affordable.

Cancun

The least expensive time to visit Cancun is during the low season, which starts in June and runs through mid-October. Days are still hot and a little humid but there’s also a possibility of rain, including potential hurricanes once September-October roll around. So, maybe skip those months (unless you really like adventure) and consider the shoulder season from mid-October to November. This period offers a good balance of affordability and pleasant weather with far fewer crowds. In fact, late October right up to Thanksgiving may offer the best overall value.

Las Vegas

The affordability of Las Vegas all depends on what you do once you get there. But the best time for airfare and accommodations is usually during the winter months of December-February (excluding major holidays). If that’s too late for you, September-November is also a common travel time for those seeking lower hotel rates and fewer crowds. The weather is also relatively mild, so if you love golfing, horseback riding or other outdoor activities, fall might be the perfect time to visit Sin City.

Colorado

It may be a little early for skiing, but the cheapest time to visit Colorado is during the shoulder season of October-November and you might still catch the leaves turning. Traditional tourism traditionally drops off during these months, so you’re likely to experience a nice combination of pleasant weather for outdoor activities and lower prices for flights and accommodations.
It’s a great time to explore big cities and small towns, enjoy hiking or mountain biking, and find a few deals on lodging and airfare before the holiday ski season.
